Vendakkai Puli Kulambu/lady's finger gravy


Vendakkai/Okra/Lady's finger-10 (small size)
Onion - 1(Finely Chopped)Tomato - 2(Finely Chopped)                               
Red Chilli powder -  2 tbsp
Coriander Powder - 1tbsp

Turmeric powder - 1/4 tbsp
Tamarind puree - 1/4 cup
Coconut - 1/2 cup (grated)

Mustard seed -  1/4 tbsp  
Cumin seed(jeera) -  1/4 tbspFenu Greek (Vendayam) -  1/4 tbsp
Curry leaves - little
Coriander leaves - little


Wash and cut the vendakka into 1/2 inch pieces.

Grind the coconut with some water and make it as a thick paste.

Heat oil in a pan,add mustard,cumin,fenu greek & curry leaves.

After splutter,add the chopped onion and saute until it becomes transparent.

Add the chopped tomato and cook until the tomato becomes soft.

Add the red chili powder,coriander powder & turmeric powder and stir it.

Add the small pieces vendakka & salt and stir it.Then add some water & bring it to boil.

Once the vegetable has cooked, add the tamarind juice and a cup of water and bring it to boil
 until the raw smell goes off and gets little thicker.

Add the ground paste of coconut & add water if necessary.Cover it and cook.

Serve with white rice.
